| Why I got into
Mountain Biking: |
I had been running for
a few years and got shin splints when I switched shoes. I could not get
rid of them. A friend of mine always talked about Memorial Park so I had
him take me out there. I had an old $200 rigid fork piece. Three rides
later and I went and bought the Moab. |
| Where I met Team
Smack: |
I had met a few of the
guys here and there but I guess my first "team" ride was on
the dam last fall. We had some decent size groups show up for the night
rides. We rode in pace lines on the dam a few times. Somehow, I always
ended up behind the guy that found it necessary to lock up his brakes in
a pace line. I didn't fall but after the 4th time I quit riding in pace
lines with mountain bikers. |
| Why do I race: |
I bought my bike in
Feb. of '99. I was 37 and hadn't ridden a bike since I was a young punk.
I had no intentions of racing but Bikeshop Billy talked me in to racing
at Warda 3 months later. I was hooked. I wish I had more time train.
Work keeps interfering with my life. |
