| Why I got into
Mountain Biking: |
I was on vacation in
Arizona and went Mountain Biking with some friends. Even though I
suffered greatly in the desert sun; water bottles, no padded shorts, no
sun glasses, no strength or lungs, it was such a thrill that when I
moved back to the states I had to get a bike and start riding again. I
also needed to do something for cardio fitness since rollerblading
really wasn't very exciting and going to the pub every night was killing
me. |
| Where I met Team
Smack: |
One Saturday morning
after my ride I was in the Terry Hershey parking lot, loading up my
gear, when a group of really loud riders came in from their ride. They
were doing the usual smacking. Some of it was actually funny so I just
kind of took my time loading everything up so as to watch the show. One
of them was so busy smacking everyone and strutting around, that he
drove off with all his gear on top of his car (I think it was a mustang
later replaced with a Red Toyota Pickup). Now That was funny!! |
| Why do I race: |
I did my first race
because the thought of it scared the sh*t out of me. Since the thought
of it had such an effect on me, I had to do a race. If I raced and
didn't do well I could handle that but I couldn't go around without
having at least entered one and tried my hardest. My first race was
Rocky Hill and I rode it for the first time one week before the race. I
didn't even know if I was on the right trail or not.
Now-a-days, racing pushes me to
become a stronger rider and to improve my technical skills. Now I can go
on extended mountain bike vacations in interesting places like Arizona
or Montana and be strong enough to ride 24-30 (or more) miles of single
track in the mountains every day for a week and not be completely wiped
at the end of every day. |
