| Why I got into
Mountain Biking: |
i raced BMX from 78 to
83 and got out of cycling when i went college, moved to the westside of
houston in 96 and noticed a series of bike trails along the south bayou,
investigated this "MTBing" thing a little more and purchased
my first MTB bike shortly afterward a 96 Cannondale super-v 1000, from
ther it's been some thing to do every week end and evenings after work. |
| Where I met Team
Smack: |
i had chimed in to the
smack post that two riders "buffalo bob" and this "chrissy"
had posted on the TMBRA forum back in 98 about a weekend ride and rusted
huffy etc... from there the (old school smackers) evolved with "mad
eddie" (my org smack handle) "charlie" , "cryin'
brian" and "S-teen" and of course chrissy and buffalo
bob. My first encounter with a actual SmaCKer was at a cyclocross race
with chrissy (i whuped his butt too) from there it's been downhill errr....i
mean uhhh special yeah thats it. i hooked up with buffalo bob,
racehorse, pedals (loren), the anthills biker, nick, toff, rich, slim
jim, and the list of local smackers is always growing. |
| Why do I race: |
when i first started
back in july of 98 it was to see how good i was (more or less a
measuring stick of my cycling progress) from there iv'e met quite a few
folks at the races and enjoy the comp.
one of my goals since moving up
to sport (way too earlie!!) is to break the top twenty in my class best
finnish so far is 22nd. |

sport race spring 99
the "wreck" i was doing well in a very long sport race and was
picking off some blown riders when i came to a fast decent called
"oh sh*t" as i was reaching maximum velocity i musta took a
bad line and hit a root next thing i knew i was flying over the bars and
hit the ground at the BOTTOM of the decent with the bike landing on me!
i wacked my head on a rock and generaly messed my self up pretty bad.
the aftermath resulted in a black eye and 20 stiches in my skull and a
warped back rim, crooked handle bars, and bent brake lever and and
dinged helmet. |
