Well, a year has come and gone and while no amount of time can truly heal all wounds, I think its time to let this forum go. I will leave it up until this weekend to give anyone who wishes time to object or copy anything posted here to a personal archive.

RIP DB

I can do a back up of the entire board. It would not be accessable to anyone but Scott and myself. Thats why I am suggesting that if there is something you want from there, save a copyt of it in a word document or something.

I don't know...what to say

"time to let go" seems a bit f-ed up, but not doing is about the same...sorta

There's really no cost to leaving it up, right?

So how about this: Can you have some icon somewhere on this page (up, down, thataway, thisaway) that you can click on to pull this back up... something spiffy like a peak of a MTN top...no words?

If it's a $-issue, I bet 50%+ of the people around here would chip in a buck-o-nine/yr to cover it.

Let's put this in proper WWDBD perspective.

First of all when I say "time to let go" I mean of the forum, not the memories. No it doesnt cost money to leave it up but at some point people need to move on. If you need to keep it all then copy and paste it into a word document. There has been no activitiy in that forum since I unlocked a few months ago.

If the majority of the people here want to keep the forum up they need to speak up. So far only two people are in opposition to taking it down.

I hate to see the forum go away. I never really knew Dave, but he still serves as an inspiration every time I'm on the bike and my WWDBD band has barely left my wrist since it went on. Getting to read the stories that are posted here by the people who really knew Dave and got to spend time with him is as close as I'll get. It's a reminder of how down to earth he could be while still being such a great bike racer and all around outstanding guy.

RIP Dave.

Like I mentioned b/f, I think it's be cool to have some sort of "WWDBD" icon somewhere on TS that those in the know could click on to view this forum. If that's not possible, then leaving it as is would be nice.

I was just sent this:

iMOAT

Dave’s Next Race
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust,
My feet will be fast and my compass I’ll trust.
My bike will fly and no time will I waste.
I’m out up ahead, it’s my trail dust you taste…

I couldn’t get word to you, there just wasn’t time
I got recruited for a big race that’s one of a kind
I know you’re concerned, but have no fear
My pack was ready to go with my mandatory gear

I had to move fast to not miss the start.
This race I’m going solo, without MOAT or HART.
But don’t worry about me because you need to train.
We adventure racers compete in sun, cold and rain.

When you’re ready for this race I’ll be waiting here.
Our “Mother Of All Teams” will have the best gear.
For now I’ll be waiting, enjoying the view
But know that often I am checking on you.

And if you’re feeling just a little bit low
Remember transition areas cause teams to be slow.
As the race clock ticks on, and life does too.
Don’t forget it’s essential to have a good crew.

So forgive me now for leaving this place,
But it’s hammer time, and I’m setting the pace.
I’ll see you again when you’re trained up and ready.
So HTFU and keep the pace steady.

Pretty damn cool.
